Defend the Fatherless

As believers, we know that every child is born with promise, a purpose, and incredible potential. That is God’s design and His plan for our lives. Sadly, many children do not fulfill their potential because they don't have an active father. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 17.8 million children are affected by fatherlessness. That's double the population of New York City or four times that of Los Angeles.

As Christians, we have a biblical mandate to help the fatherless. Throughout Scripture, God shows us His heart toward the fatherless and commands us to help them.

• You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge. (Deuteronomy 24:17)

• Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. (Psalm 82:3)

• Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. (Isaiah 1:17)

• Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27)

God says we must defend the fatherless and ensure they receive the justice they are due. That is why I am extremely excited today to tell you about the launch of ChASM Project! The Christian Alternative Schools for Men (ChASM) Project bridges the chasm between where boys are and where men should be. The ChASM Project will provide a Christian alternative educational option for fatherless boys who are on track for lives filled with despair and tragedy.

We rescue fatherless young men with academic failures, behavioral problems, and criminal histories. We introduce them to Jesus and the Holy Spirit and provide a robust, Christ-centered education of their spirits, minds, and bodies. We immerse them into Kingdom culture and disciple them into the strong Christian leaders God created them to be. Essentially, we stand in the gap, not only protecting these fatherless young men from their perilous circumstances but helping them become a generation of godly fathers to combat the scourge of fatherlessness plaguing our nation.
