As I talk to people about the ChASM Project, many of them tend to ask the same questions. Maybe you have some of these same questions. Here are my answers to the top 5 ChASM Project FAQs.
1. What is the ChASM Project? The ChASM Project is a nonprofit organization that establishes and operates Christian alternative schools for young men in communities that desperately need them. Our first school is in the Charlotte area and we plan to welcome our first cohort of students in July 2025.
2. What is a Christian alternative school? Many people are familiar with Christian schools, which focus on Jesus Christ, and alternative schools, which serve students who have not succeeded in mainstream schools. Christian alternative schools combine these by focusing on Jesus Christ and serving students who have not succeeded in mainstream schools.
3. Lots of kids struggle in school. Who specifically do you serve? We serve fatherless boys who are failing academically, have behavioral issues, and have a criminal history, but want to experience a better life.
4. What ages? We only bring in 11-year-olds and keep them until they graduate at 18. Consistency is key to our students' success, and keeping the groups of boys together protects them from outside influences that could undermine the progress they have made.
5. How do you help them? Jesus is the One who helps them, but we introduce them to Him. We also provide the boys with robust, individualized academic instruction designed to quickly move them from far behind grade level to far beyond it, immerse them into Kingdom culture, and disciple them into the godly leaders they were created to be.
