Train Up a Child

If you haven't already heard, the Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of parents who want to opt their children out of reading books that affirm the LGBTQ+ agenda. As part of this decision, they acknowledged that, for many Americans, educating their children according to their beliefs "is not merely a preferred practice but rather
a religious obligation." For Christians, this hearkens back to several Scriptures.
Deuteronomy 6:7 - You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Ephesians 6:4b - Bring [your children] up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Christian parents have a biblical mandate to teach their children about Jesus, but they do not have to do it alone. We can all help each other fulfill this commandment. Churches, Christian curriculum, and Christian schools can also help. The ChASM Project helps by discipling fatherless boys into the strong husbands, fathers, and leaders God created them to be.
I want to celebrate those of you who already do a great job teaching your children about Jesus. I want to encourage those of you who know you should do better. And I want to challenge those of you who can help others succeed at this. Let this Supreme Court decision remind you that together, we can make a difference.
