Boys Need Discipleship

At the ChASM Project, we understand that life doesn't come with instructions. Like many of you, the roads of our personal journeys have been paved with mistakes as we struggled to "figure life out." But there is a better way: Learn from others' mistakes. Rather than make your own mistakes, let other people share their lessons with you. You can learn the same things faster, and with a lot less pain, from someone else.
The Christian life works the same way. That's why Jesus told us to "make disciples" (Matthew 28:19). He doesn't want His followers to learn everything the hard way, but for others to teach them. This teaching, or Christian mentorship, is called "discipleship," because it is how spiritually mature believers make disciples of those who are younger in their faith.
Check out Pastor Freddy's story (and feel free to share). When he was struggling as a new believer, a family man and a youth pastor came along and taught him how to walk out his faith. These two spiritual fathers helped shape Pastor Freddy into the man he is today.
Here at the ChASM Project, we believe that young men need spiritual fathers to disciple them into the strong husbands, fathers, and leaders God created them to be. This type of success in life does not happen in a moment, but requires a lengthy process. Such a transformation is the fruit of a consistent example, faithful mentorship, and spending extensive time in a community with like-minded men.
You can help us make disciples and change families and communities for generations. That's why I'm asking you again to prayerfully consider sponsoring a ChASM student for this school year. If your heart is there, but your budget isn’t, you might also consider a partial sponsorship or pledging to sponsor a ChASM student in the future. I know these are big commitments, but I also know they are worth it! Thank you so much for helping us bridge the chasm between where boys are and where men should be.
